Critically think about the fella’s choice of how to participate in life – how is he living out this “Way” that is his understanding of what it means to follow the Christ way… watch the video…what does the Litany say about this alternative way?
What do all these words mean?
“Have Mercy On Us”
“Sin” – “Kingdom of God” – “Salvation” – “Lamb of God You take away the sins of the world” -
He says all of them!
These words have been misused and abused by, what what the popular media calls, “fundamentalism” or the “Christian Right”. WE MUST REDEEM THEM. The world depends on us to do so.
This “Way” of being that is offered to us Christians enables us to be delivered from…
the arrogence of power
the tyranny of greed
the ugliness of racism
cancer of hatred
idolatry of nationalism
violence of apathy
ghettos of poverty
ghettos of wealth
lack of imagination
In the litany he says, “But today we pledge our ultimate allegiance to the Kingdom of God, to the peace that is not like Rome’s; to the gospel of enemy-love, to the kingdom of the poor and the broken , to a king who loves his enemies so much he died for them, to the least of these with whom Christ dwells, to the transnational church that transcends the artificial borders of nations, to the refugee of Nazareth, to the homeless rabbi who had no place to lay his head, to the cross rather than the sword, to the the banner of love above any flag, to the one who rules with a towel rather than an iron fist, to the one who rides a donkey rather than a war horse, to the revolution that sets both the oppressed and thee oppressor free, to the way that leads to life, to the slaughtered lamb…”
“GRANT US PEACE!”
((We are doing the whole service March 30th, the Sunday after Easter…Would some of this Litany work for that service?…come this Sunday with ideas. Write down what pieces of this you like and why. Email me if you would like to present it to the group.))

this is so hip Casey!
